Power of Education
Today we shall go anecdotal, to illustrate the power of education, I shall narrate an incident in my life for you to read and understand why education is important to everyone.
There is a Fruit Market near our home, where there are many vendors who sell Fruit in Bulk, i.e. they do not sell in small quantities. We normally go there to buy fruit in quantity so as to stock up for a week thus getting good quality fruit at a wholesale price.
Once we i.e. me and my wife went there to buy a few fruits like Apple and Pear as that was the season for those fruit. We approached an elder vendor who asked us to weigh the fruit on an electronic scale and asked us how much was the weight, we told him once, then he did the same to another customer, so I asked him, couldnt he read the digits, and he said no Sir, I am not educated and I dont understand these digits.
I was aghast to know that this 60+ year old gentleman from North India could not even read simple numbers and he is selling fruit, so I told him why dont you learn it, its very simple and ask your grand children to help you.
A few months must have passed when we again went to the market and went and purchased more fruit from this same gentleman. This time though he could tell the weight from the electronic weighing scale and he was much confident. He later confided, that earlier he was cheated a lot by both his suppliers and customers a lot, but now since he could easily figure out the numbers, he can save a lot of money doing the same trade.
So this is the power of education....
